Last October, Cleo Abram delved into the state of deep ocean mapping on her Huge If True YouTube channel. In her video “Exploring the State of Deep Ocean Mapping”, she discussed why deep ocean mapping lags behind the mapping of other planets like Mars, and highlighted efforts such as the Seabed 2030 project to chart the ocean floor at a higher resolution. Whether you’re new to the topic or already familiar with it, Abram’s video serves as an engaging and informative primer. (I do have to add that the statement claiming Marie Tharp’s maps have “largely been forgotten by history” may not hold true universally, as her maps have been widely recognized in various circles.)
