Veritas has released a new survey uncovering the risks associated with workers oversharing sensitive information with generative AI tools. According to the survey, nearly 31% of global office workers admit to inputting potentially sensitive data into generative AI tools, such as customer details or employee financials.
Some key findings from the survey include:
- 61% of global workers fail to realize that entering sensitive information into generative AI tools could publicly leak sensitive data.
- 63% of global respondents do not understand the impact of their actions on their organization’s data compliance regulations.
- American office workers are the worst offenders, with over 54% admitting to entering sensitive or confidential information into a generative AI tool or knowing a colleague who has.
