Before Google’s latest I/O event even started, the tech giant was already making waves with its new AI. At the event, musician Dan Deacon performed as the company showcased its latest text-to-video AI model with a psychedelic slideshow featuring various images. This was Google’s way of demonstrating that it’s making a major push in AI for 2023. CEO Sundar Pichai mentioned that the goal is to make AI helpful for everyone, indicating that Google intends to integrate AI into more user-facing software products and apps.

One of Google’s new AI offerings is PaLM 2, a sequel to its language model that aims to enhance AI chatbots and text-based services. PaLM 2 is trained on more than 100 languages and has capabilities in coding, mathematics, and creative writing. Another development is Google’s Bard AI, which has received significant upgrades and is now available in more than 180 countries. Bard AI has improved coding capabilities and integrates with various Google and third-party apps.

Google is also enhancing its Search capabilities with AI-generated summaries that provide users with quick information and a jumping-off point for further exploration. Additionally, Google is expanding AI features in its Workspace apps, adding generative AI and “sidekick” capabilities to Gmail, Docs, Slides, and Sheets. The company is also introducing AI-generated wallpapers and AI-written texts in its Messages app, allowing users to personalize their Android mobile devices using AI-generated images and responses.

Furthermore, Google has announced its plan to integrate AI into various aspects of users’ experiences, including screen customization options with the launch of Android 14 later this year. These developments demonstrate Google’s commitment to incorporating AI into its products and services to enhance user experiences.
